The Weeknd is one of Paul’s favorite musical artists and this piece pays homage to the role Abel’s music has played through the chapters of his life.

Paul grew up between East and South East Austin. His family roots in East Austin date back over 100 years. Paul is very proud to be from the East Austin and Montopolis area. He wanted to create a piece to represent the gentrification of East Austin and the swallowing up of the Hispanic community and culture.

This was Paul’s first large piece ever completed. It is inspired by his late grandfather on his mother’s side, Jose ‘Joe’ Soto Ybarbo, and his roots that lead back to Nacogdoches, Texas.
